If you thought that the data in your iMac is safe behind one Windows password or an iMac lock you’ve got to rethink. Because unless you changed the default, anyone can just boot your iMac using a floppy disk or even CD-ROM and wander around your folders and files like a tomb raider. You don’t want to encounter such nightmares, do you?
To have the files safe, you’ve got to make the iMac password protected as well as to have it to boot-up upon authorization. This makes no body to have a backdoor access into your iMac through floppy drive or a CD drive.
You may want to take a look at the machine’s Setup menu for the security settings including User Password. Then, when it prompts, just give a password of your choice; there is a word of caution here – that resetting boot-up password is a brainer by itself so chose and type but carefully.
Again please note that some machines will allow you to add the Setup password so to contain any unauthorized access to Setup program too, check the motherboard manual to doubly make sure if the feature is available on your machine.
Majority of system motherboards have switch or a jumper for resetting the boot password should the need arise. In that case switch off the system and off the plug, open up the system case, and just reposition the jumper; take care that you ground before doing this job.
However, in case the jumper is not there set up of the password, you may have to look for that switch that will reset your Setup program; implies it will clear boot-up password and erase other settings as well.
All these efforts are for one main objective to keep the system safe; your iMac off the wrong hands. Despite these to have the boot-up password disabled is not a big deal and it isn’t that difficult to take off the hard disk, frisk all the files and folders and replace with no signs of tampering too. So how to keep the intruders off your expensive iMac? Locks that come in the $30 range will be effective for simple systems and not an iMac. Lock that is made for iMac will serve the purpose; G5 custom locks or an Apple MacPro locks do. There are advanced physical security devices including iMac plate lock devices that are barely visible yet offering very good computer security.
The iMac locks may not be cheap computer security devices, but instead of having to bear the loss of revenue by computer vandalism and to avoid the the company’s reputation being ruined and investing on administrative expensive for repairs post vandals attack, it makes sense to invest in the iMac locks and be secured. There are some products that offer iMac insurance too with the iMac lock purchase, just do your diligence and you will be at peace.

While Apple computers have never matched PCs in scale, their dedicated core following has always kept them around. Their products give reasons for the dedication some people have for Apple, but they also give reasons why Macs have always remained a distant second to the PC. While Apple offers great machines, they have their drawbacks.
Apple has long excelled at quality. While their computers certainly can break down, they last longer than the average PC and their users replace them less frequently. This helps to at least partially offset their higher purchase prices.
Apple computers are often equipped with more frills as comparison to other computers. For example, their laptops offer a lot of little extras that are found much less frequently on PCs such as tiny webcams, MagSafe charging points (these detach when the cord is accidentally jerked hard), LED lights that will show battery strength without booting, magnetic latches and other neat features as well as accessories.
Of course, design is a major attraction for many users. PCs tend to be rather dull, but design is something Apple has long excelled at. From sleek, innovative designs to a variety of colors, their computers just look cool.
Since Apple maintains complete control over the hardware and software of their computers, they are better made and much more reliable. Windows based machines are sometimes like the Jack of all trades, master of none. Since they are designed to work on any combination of hardware, there are often drive and other compatibility issues. Made for closed environments, Apple computers are designed to do fewer specific tasks well. This greatly reduces the glitches, bugs and crashes that can so frustrate Windows users.
This closed environment also has its drawbacks though. The main one being compatibility with other systems and software. Being a closed system and under 5% of the market, there are a wide range of programs that simply will not work on a Mac. While Windows computers may freeze and crash more, it is at least possible to use the programs others are. Those using Macs are often left behind. Although attempts have been made to make them more compatible, they still have a long way to go.
Being smaller has its advantages though. Since those who make malware want to target as many machines as possible, they usually write programs to target PCs. This means there is far less malicious code out there targeting Macs.
Another negative of Macs is parts compatibility. While PCs usually can be easily upgraded, this is not so with Apples. One simply has to buy a new system, and their computers usually cost more. With computers changing faster than ever, the need to upgrade is likely to grow.
The choice often comes down to the greater style and reliability of Macs to the greater compatibility, lower prices and versatility of PCs.

The MacBook Pro comes in silver or black. I chose the black one as it is stunning.
The Intel Core Duo allows the MacBook Pro the ability to use the power of two processors on one chip. What this means is that the performance of the machine is doubled, while it only needs to power one processor. The front side bus at 667Hz, which Apple says “runs faster than any pervious Mac notebook,” allows for graphics to be switched between 2D and 3D.
There is a built in iSight camera, so that you may video conference around the world use the iChat software.
The Mac Book Pro was a great machine. I’ve been using it for a while now and I absolutely love it. I doubt I’ll be going back to a Windows based machine anytime soon!

Well known brands probably have a better quality than other brands as they are higher in prices, but some people prefer local or less known brands as they still meet all requirements in a lower price.
If you are in the market for an iMac stand or an ergonomic laptop stand, make sure you check out the variety available online before making up your mind. Taking the first offer or buying the first desks you see is not the best option. Do your research and find the product that suits your needs while fitting well within your budget.

Create presentations just for the iPad.

• Start the process by removing the bottom screws using a pentalobe screwdriver. Removing these screws loosens the screen.
• To remove the shattered screen, you can use an iSlack device that is a suction cup designed for the purpose. However, the screen should be removed halfway with the iSlack and the rest should be removed only after disconnecting the various cables and connectors.
• Remove the PCB connector plate and the connector cables. The process continues with the removal of earpiece, camera, proximity sensor, light sensor, and microphone flex assembly.
• While removing such assemblies and connectors, you should be careful as most of them are fixed with adhesive and applying too much strength can damage the components.
• Focus on removing the home button assembly and the home button itself. The button is fixed with an adhesive to the flex assembly which is fitted into the screen and you have to gently remove it to avoid any type of damage.
• After carefully removing all those parts, you will find the LCD backplate which is adjoined with 7 Phillip screws.
When you have removed the old LCD backplate, you can install the new screen and place all the components carefully in the exact order they were removed. It will be better if you note down the whole process in a sequence so that when you are re-installing all the components you can refer to the notes and avoid any mistakes.
For help or guidance, you can also watch a couple of videos online to get a better idea about what to do when you are replacing the iPhone screen parts. It is a fairly easy process but you will have to be careful throughout the whole process. Doing it in one uninterrupted session is advisable.

Crossover is a software that lets you run Windows-based applications on a Linux computer or MAC.
CodeWeavers, the company that developed CrossOver, has been working on an Android version of the tool that would enable you to run Windows programs on Android devices.
Last month, Google made its Play store available to the at least three Chromebooks, allowing their users to run apps developed for Android phones on their machines.
This means the users of compatible Chromebooks will also be able to run Windows programs by installing CrossOver for Android app. However, for now, this software won't run every single Windows app or even all those Windows apps that you can run on Linux or MAC platforms using Crossover.
While CodeWeavers's Android app is yet to be released, the Minnesota-based company this week posted a video on their official blog showing the Windows game Limbo and Steam game client running on an Acer Chromebook.
The company said the CrossOver for Android supports DirectX 9 graphics and detects the inputs from keyboard and mouse.
It is worth mentioning that the software works only with the devices featuring x86 processors. Since a large number of Android smartphones and tablets boast the chips are manufactured by ARM, most of its users will be not able to run Crossover.
But, most of the Chromebooks have Intel processors, and they would be the main beneficiaries of Crossover once Google widens its Android app support to these machines and once this software is officially launched.
Currently, the Android app support is available in Acer Chromebook R11, Google Chromebook Pixel and Asus Chromebook Flip but Google has said that it will roll out to the feature to other Chromebooks in the market as well by the end of this year.
Since Chromebooks tend to be cheaper as compared to Windows, Apple's MAC and OS X laptops, their sales have increased over the last few years.
However, due to its lack of support for Microsoft Office, Photoshop and many other programs, critics call Chrome OS "just a browser" which "not works without an Internet connection".
But the arrival of Google Play Store will make Chrome OS a powerful and versatile operating system.
And, support for even some Windows apps would be a handy addition and will is expected to boost further the sales of Chromebooks.
